Teton Science Schools

Teton Science Schools inspires curiosity, engagement, and leadership through transformative place-based education. Our approach to teaching and learning challenges learners engage with their communities through the lenses of ecology, economy, and culture to promote a more robust understanding of issues that affect them and their community. We combine classroom-based education with field based education and educator development to maximize the impact of our programs. We serve 12,000 participants annually from all around the country and abroad. Field Education mostly service 4th grade through adult in a residential setting and students from 1st grade and up through non-residential programs.

Why Our programs challenge students to think critically about their surroundings and the issues that affect communities in various scales and scope. This place-based approach promotes student engagement in learning and develops their capacity to be leaders within their own community. At a time when people are increasingly disengaged from their surrounds, this approach is very important to building a more engaged and just society.
