Seasons & Wildlife Field Trip

Students use inquiry, outdoor exploration, and observation of scientific resources such as animal furs and antlers to understand animal adaptations. Students will learn about how animals change how they move, what they wear, and what they eat in each season. Depending on the time of year, there can also be the opportunity for a hike or snowshoe exploration to discover what animals are doing during that time of year. Songs and stories can also be included. This program is offered in any season (three programs: Fall, Winter and/or Spring) or can be delivered in multiple seasons to compare and contrast what animals are doing at different times of the year. Available as a field trip or classroom visit.

Crosscutting Concepts: Systems in the natural and designed world have parts that work together. Matter is transported into, out of, and within systems. Events have causes that generate observable patterns. Patterns in the natural and human designed world can be observed and used as evidence.

Vocabulary: fall, winter, spring, summer, season, adapt, survive, habitat, Lynx, Snowshoe Hare, Weasel
